Where is Allah?

“I want to ask you a basic question,” a friend said to me.

“Yes, sure. What is it?”

“Where is Allah?”

I find it weird when someone suddenly asked that question, thinking that it’s such a simple question which a ten-year-old could answer it without hesitation.

“Allah is everywhere, we just can’t see Him,” I answered confidently.

“That’s what we learned when we were small. We have not really asked if it’s true.”

Then, he told me about below hadith.

Mu’awiyah ibn al-Hakam said, “I had a servant girl who used to tend to my sheep in the area of Mount Uhud, near a place called al-Jawwariyah. One day I came to see them only to find that a wolf had made off with a sheep from her flock. Since I, like the rest of Adam’s descendants, am prone to do regrettable acts, I gave her a terrible slap in her face. When I came to Allah’s Messenger with the story, he considered it a grave thing for me to have done. I said, ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, couldn’t I free her?” He replied, “Bring her to me”, so I brought her. He then asked her, “Where is Allah?” and she replied, “Above the sky.” Then he asked her, “Who am I?” and she replied, “You are Allah’s Messenger.” So he said, “Free her, for verily she is a believer.” (Hadith Muslim)

From the above sahih hadith, Prophet SAW has no objection in confirming to the girl’s answer that Allah is above the sky, up above the seventh heavens. This is the basic of tawheed, to understand and verify that Allah is The Highest and The Greatest.

But the misconception of stating where is Allah nowadays has become somewhat arguable to most people. Truthfully, I once thought Allah is everywhere. That’s what I’ve been taught in school and I carried the belief for many years till I learned more about my true religion and digging more into the Islamic knowledge.

Allah is completely separate from His creation. This means that Allah is not part of the created world nor the created world is part of Him. He created the sky, the earth, the moon, the stars, mountains and all other creatures and living things whether they are big or small or unseen from our naked eyes. But, Allah’s attributes work perfectly at everywhere and at anytime. He can hear us, sees what we are doing, knows what in our hearts & He makes things happen when He wants it to happen (Kun Fa Ya Kun).

One of the main proof which Allah is up above the heaven is when the Prophet SAW were taken up through the seven skies to meet his Creator, Allah SWT, face to face. The night journey (Isra’) was the journey when Prophet spoke directly to Allah and the compulsory prayer is made to be five times daily for every Muslims. The Isra’ Mi’raj story is a proof that Allah is up at His Arasy where Prophet needed to travel all the way up through the skies to meet Him.

There are few ayahs in the Quran saying about Allah’s Throne (Arasy) such as Al-Araf verse 54, Yunus verse 3, Ar- Rad verse 2, Taha verse 5, Al- Furqan verse 59, As- Sajdah verse 4 and Al- Hadid verse 4.

“The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established.” [Surah Taha verse 5]

“It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with you wherever you are. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing.” [Surah Al-Hadid verse 4]

I hope the readers especially the Muslims will learn more about Islam and the basic root of the belief which is Tawheed (one God). There are many books out there explaining about this and one of them is The Fundamentals of Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism) written by Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips. May the knowledge be beneficial to us.

Do recite the du’a below for guidance from Allah to provide you with beneficial knowledge.

O Allah! I ask You for knowledge that is of benefit, a good provision and deeds that will be accepted. [Ibn Majah]

Writing

The feeling of not involving myself in blogging arena kept coming back now and then.

Firstly because I don’t think I have enough readers who will read each of my posts.

Secondly, I’ve got nothing to share with my readers anymore.

But to be honest, after few months of not blogging, I finally checked my account again and to my surprise, the ratings (number of viewers) keep increasing every day. *wink*

The adrenaline to write suddenly urged me to get my fingers on the keyboard fast.

I have an idea what to write on my next post!

Most probably I shall write about marriage!!!

Sounds interesting??

Patience

“The planning of The Almighty is better for you than your own planning, and He could deprive you from what you ask to test your patience. So let Him see from you a determined patience and you will soon see from Him what will give you joy. And when you have cleaned the paths of answering [of supplication] from the stains of sin [i.e have repented] and were patient about what He has chosen for you, then everything that happens to you is better for you whether you were given or deprived of what you have requested.”
-Ibn Al-Jawzi
When I think back of my life and how everything took place, I couldn’t help but thank Allah for the hardships and sweet memories He had given to me to face. MashaAllah… Kadang – kadang ada masa kita berdoa dan berharap sesuatu dengan penuh harapan, tapi Dia tak bagi jugak. But in the end, He gave something else which is better for us.

Dilemma

Dear friends and readers,

Apologised for being in hiatus mode for the past few months. So many things happened in my life thus the blog is being neglected temporarily.

How’s everybody doing?

I went through some of my posts I made for the past four years and they were all quite fun and entertaining. My writings were so layback and impromptu with rojak words here and there. But when I read those which I wrote in a few months ago, they are more serious especially on knowledge about Islam. How things really changed ya!

At the moment, I’m thinking to close down this blog. But rasa sayang sangat! I’ve met gorgeous readers through this blog and I’ve learned so many things from readers who commented to each posts. Sangat dalam dilemma skrang ni. Hopefully I can stay with writing and find the momentum back.

Second phase of Ramadhan

Mood nak tulis dalam bahasa rojak. Yup, bukan bahasa Melayu, bukan bahasa Inggeris, tapi campur – campur.

Assalamualaikum to all! How’s your Ramadhan? Ni dah masuk second phase of Ramadhan, lebih kurang 2 minggu dah kita berpuasa. Are you guys still thinking about food, food and food? By now, I hope we have passed all that and start focusing on ibadah more.

Bangun sahur tak? And if yes, u guys tidur balik? Or terus mandi, solat di awal waktu, then continue with reciting the Quran for at least half juzuk. Yup, you do have time for that you know. It’s better not to go back to sleep. NOT GOOOOD! If rasa nak tido jugak, suggest that you sleep before Zohor or after Zohor. At least, in the morning tu sempat buat kerja-kerja rumah and then buat solat Dhuha.

And to those who are working, you can go to work after you’ve done reciting a few pages of the Quran. While at work, take a 10 minutes break. Go down to the prayer room for solat sunat Dhuha. Bukannya lama pun. Dua rakaat je. 😀 Kalau boleh, elakkan dari tidur waktu lunch tu. Ramadhan ni sebulan je, don’t waste it okay! Nanti rugi sangat. Go and recite the Quran. Tadi pagi dah half juzuk, continue another half juzuk during lunch time. InshaAllah, dapat dah satu juzuk satu hari.

I’m sure your tarawih is fantastic! Keep it up till the end. Jangan lupakan tarawih bila dah dekat-dekat nak raya tu. It’s the last 10 nights of Ramadhan! Don’t you want to achieve the Laylatul Qadar?

Eventhough it’s only 13 days of Ramadhan, I’ve been tested by Allah in so many ways. But Alhamdulillah, with the on-going prayers and doas, everything went smoothly. Never underestimate the power of doa! Banyakkan berdoa di bulan mulia ni tau. InshaAllah, makbul.

See you guys in next entry!

Pre-Ramadhan

Ramadhan is coming! Aren’t you all excited yet?
Have you make your Ramadhan list already? What do you want to improve, what do you want to add – in the sense of ibadah, what are the things you want to leave behind – in the sense of bad behavior?
I have a list to fulfill and I’ve started doing things which kinda unusual from my daily routines. Oh, it was not so bad, you know. Truth is, I guess these routines can be good for me in the long run. Hope they are to stay forever.
I found this blog that shared about her Ramadhan checklist. Amazing!
And I remember that I read somewhere about buying your buddies gifts to welcome Ramadhan. Herm, that’s a good idea too isn’t?

How about you? Anything you feel like doing this Ramadhan?

Love till Jannah

I was thinking and thinking about what will happen to married couples. Are they really going to be together forever and ever? Just like we wish the newlyweds,“ May you be happy till the end of time” or “Semoga berbahagia hingga akhir hayat”.
Well, as I read one blog on this called Sebutir Kasih Sejuta Sayang, I realized that we must wish them to be happily together till Jannah. You know why? Cause, when you are married, it doesn’t mean you’ll be with your partner till Jannah (the forever after place for pious man), but only to those who deserved to be in it.
In fact, Rasulullah SAW said,” No one is single in heaven.” – narrated by Muslim.
Everyone will have their own partner in Jannah. A woman who’s lost their husband (died), will be together again with the husband as long as he’s going to Jannah. If not, she’ll get married to a good man in Jannah. Seriously?
It means, both man and wife should strive to be good Muslims to ensure that their love is eternity. That’s how Allah plans for us, His servants. And the promise is truly definite. No doubt!

Wardina’s note about her daughter & prayer

Dear Mama, Ummi, Mum,  Ibu, Bonda…

I have to share this with you… because i feel so happy and i feel that all my penat lelah paid off…

I started to make my Amna to solat 5 times a day when she was 7, on her 7th birthday…we had a talk…(check note lama) tapi preparation since 6 la…tapi dari kecik memang selalu ikut2 la kami solat….she hasnt missed her solat since. Walaupun lambat, tetap solat. I made sure of that – because the key is SOLAT ni kalau tak tanam dari kecik memang LIAT nanti….But it is very important to keep this in mind:-

1) kalau kita bagi dia tinggal WALAUPUN sekali nanti we are sending the wrong signal – kena make sure – every waktu without fail, walaupun penat, ataupun lambat

2)l Selalu kalau boleh solat together..mula2 memang kena solat together….kalau tak ada rumah make sure an adult in the house pastikan anak kita solat. (hari tu Amna pergi her reading class, i asked her teacher to take her to the surau)

3)Selalu cerita how IMPORTANT it is to solat..how Allah is watching us… how we are good Muslims when we solat, how Allah loves us, Solat tu, untuk kita, bukan untuk Allah…..TAPI selalu jugak cerita yang akan ada orang TAK solat…acknowledge the fact that sometimes we feel lazy to solat….itu semua kerja SETAN! Fight them off….! I tell Amna that even some grown ups tak solat! I tell Amna that….we have to be strong.. we have to tell ourselves we will NEVER miss our solat…..

4)Awal2 subuh ni memang tak bangunkan, tapi as soon as dia bangun pagi, ill ask her to solat straight away.(yes memang leceh..but we have to, and we have to do it with LOVE diselang seli dgn strictness)

5)kalau dia tinggal –  DENGAN sengaja, i take the rotan and hit her on her tapak tangan slowly, just as a reminder. After that i hug her and tell her i love her, and i just want her to remember – and guess what?? memang dia ingat!!! (3 kali baru, i think not bad, sampai satu hari dia terlambat solat, sebab keluar dan memang tak ingat, dia yang suruh rotan) But i tell her kalau TERLUPA atau TERTIDUR its ok…but kena solat terus bila bangun.

Macam ni ceritanya, i told Amna, kalau Ummi ambik Amna dari sekolah lambat, Amna solat dulu Asar kat sekolah….tadi memang datang lambat…i was loking for her..and guess what????

She was actually praying her Asar prayers…i wanted to pengsan and cry…she did all by herself…. i pun told her how happy and how proud i was of her…i tanya dia kenapa? dia kata “Amna ingat apa Ummi cakap”…..cair nya hatiku ini.

Apa lagi, Ummi ni peluk cium dia….and called nenek at Australia…now im sharing with all of you!!! Because i want us to raise generation of good Muslims that are disciplined, smart, intelligent -that remembers Allah because  the world so BADLY needs good QUALITY Muslims like this!!!

And the foundation is – to start them off right – solat at SEVEN! Yes just as how Rasulullah asked us!

I love you all!!! Good night…..

** i took that picture of Amna praying from my table, dia sendiri bangun solat Isyak…without even bothering me..berbunga hati seorang ibu….
